Young plants on leaf

Mother of Thousands (Kalanchoe daigremontiana)

This amazing succulent plant gets its name from the tiny plantlets that sprout along the edges of the plants' leaves.  The plant can get to 3 feet tall.  They attract hummingbirds.  They send up a gorgeous, long lived flower cluster of dangling coral and purple blossoms.  These plants are extremely easy to grow from cuttings, and literally will grow from a leaf that falls onto the dirt.

Kalanchoe daigremontiana syn. Bryophyllum daigremontianum also called Devil's Backbone, Alligator Plant, Mexican Hat Plant or Mother of Thousands is a succulent plant native to Madagascar. This plant is distinguished by its ability to propagate via vivipary.
